140 participants at the LEUCO Sports Day.

The LEUCO employees met up at the Ergenzingen sports ground on Saturday, July 8, to compete in a mutual sports day. LEUCO has always promoted and supported sports events. In this sense, the company held for the seventh time the traditional soccer tournament, launched in memory of its long-standing company director and co-founder of LEUCO, Josef Störzer. Not only soccer, but also tennis and volleyball were on the agenda.

Company directors Frank Diez and Daniel Schrenk greeted the employees from the main production facility in Horb, colleagues from the sites of Beinheim (Alsace, France) and Herford (North Rhine-Westphalia) as well as sports-enthusiastic LEUCO employees from all over Germany.

This traditional sporting event is organized annually at the locations in France and Germany. The goal is, and has always been, to promote cooperation even outside of the company. More than 50 years of age between the youngest and oldest participants added a family feel to the event.

Already early in the morning, 12 tennis enthusiasts faced each other in the mixed doubles, until Stephan Schatz and Birgit Schober came out as this year's winners. Afterwards, it was the soccer players' turn to fight for the coveted challenge cup. Five teams were struggling for the ball, trying to reach the highest number of goals and points. They were then replaced by the volleyball teams, digging and setting in perfect beach weather.

To round off the day, the managers demonstrated their shooting accuracy in a penalty shootout. Here again, it quickly became clear that none of the protagonists wanted to show any sign of weakness. The shooters approached the task with great concentration, choosing a spot to aim for and trying to outwit the goalkeeper with technical skills, shooting power or even cunning. For, after all, every goal was meant to be rewarded to serve a good cause.

At the presentation ceremony, company directors Diez and Schrenk praised the players for an exciting and fair competition where all were winners, saying that the most important thing was, that they had all survived the day without injuries. Each participant was rewarded with a certificate and a gift prize for his or her sporting activities. The coveted challenge cup, donated by the Diez and Störzer-Bareis families, was snatched up by the "Real Beinheim" team. Finally, the managers thanked all those in charge of the activity, especially the sporting friends of TuS Ergenzingen for providing the sports facilities and ensuring physical well-being during and after the competitions. All LEUCOers agreed to pursue the beautiful tradition with full dedication the following year at the Beinheim site (France).
